What are the 3" Hex Flat Steel Safety Flanges used for?
The 3" Hex Flat Steel Safety Flanges are to be used during high speed polishing and buffing along with our 2" Hex Adapter that is used to correctly mount a 6" Mini Airway Buffing Wheel. The hexagonal cutout in the base flange ensures that there is less "play" within the flange when used along with the 2" Hex Adapter (not included), thus helping to secure the mini buffing wheel correctly. They are meant to reinforce centerplate of the mini buffing wheel. In addition to offering protection against overtightening.
How do I use Safety Flanges?
Attach the safety flanges to each side of your 6" Mini Airway Buffing Wheel by simply placing the base flange with the hexagonal cutout onto your 2" Hex Flange Adapter for Mini Airway Buffing Wheels, placing the 6" Mini Airway Buffing Wheel on top of the flange, and placing the second flange (with the circular cutout) on top of the buffing wheel. The next step is to fasten the attachments securely with a lock nut before buffing and cutting.
