Description
The exhaust backpressure valve (EBV or EBPV) may be defective. The regulator and actuator are prone to leaking engine oil at the rear of the turbocharger. They are not easy to get; use only after removing the turbocharger. These deleted parts will delete all moving parts that may be malfunctioning and fix any other problems
EBV is designed as the first step into the emission control manufacturing process. Its function of turning off exhaust flow is to make the engine reach operating temperature as soon as possible. Cold engines produce more exhaust because not all of the fuel is burned during combustion.
Reasons for removal of EBV system:
Reduce turbine lag and increase responsiveness.
Reduce exhaust gas temperature, especially if operating performance is improved
Permanently remove failure-prone parts.
That's almost half the cost of replacing parts that might fail again in the future.
There are two main reasons for retaining the EBV system:
If you are in a very cold climate.
If you're in California, you need this system to pass the emissions test.
Note:
This is a very important decision if your Ford F series truck is early or late 1999. This product is only available at the end of 1999. Measure the diameter of the inlet bonnet joint before purchasing. The new model trucks have a 3-inch inlet, and the earlier trucks had a 2-inch inlet. Our 7.3L EBPV removal kit is only available for late 1999 Ford trucks.
