Flashark Cold Air Intake Kit For 1996-2004 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8
The 1996-2004 Mustang GT's 4.6L SOHC V8 was Ford's first modular V8 in the Mustang — but the factory air intake never gave it room to breathe. The stock setup routes air through a restrictive plastic intake silencer, a flat-panel paper filter, and a narrow-diameter duct, all tuned for cabin quietness rather than flow. By the time air reaches the throttle body, significant velocity and density have been lost.
The FLASHARK Cold Air Intake Kit replaces this entire chain with a 3.5-inch mandrel-bent aluminum tube and a high-flow dry cotton gauze filter, shielded from engine heat by a black powder-coated steel enclosure. Dyno testing shows gains of 5-15 HP and 6-8% torque across the 4.6L's powerband — no ECU reflash required. Whether your Mustang has the early non-PI heads (1996-1998, 215 hp) or the later PI heads (1999-2004, 260 hp), the intake delivers a sharper throttle response and a deep, aggressive induction growl that the factory spent years suppressing.
Installation is a true bolt-on: 30-60 minutes with basic hand tools, factory MAF plugs directly in, and all mounting hardware is included. For the money, there is no faster way to wake up a 2V 4.6L Mustang before moving on to exhaust, gears, or a tune.
