SPE Motorsport S550/S650 Solid Axle Conversion Cradle
Our S550/S650 solid axle conversion cradle lets you swap your IRS Mustang over to a proven Foxbody-style straight axle setup using all Foxbody style rear ends and control arms. Including 8.8 and 9" variants. It bolts into the factory IRS mounting locations and gives you a true triangulated 4-link layout that meets factory suspension class rules.
The cradle is built from chromoly tubing and TIG-welded in-house here in the USA. It’s designed for serious power applications and built to take abuse. The only chassis tie-in is 4 bars from the cradle to the main hoop of your roll cage (this is highly recommended for high hp applications). The rest of the structure is self-supporting once installed. Unlike other setups on the market.
This conversion does require rear floor pan modification. The rear floor section must be cut out to clear the cradle and the Foxbody straight axle setup. No additional modification to the chasis is needed beyond that.

Only 4 bars are needed to the main hoop for maximum support. The cradle handles the rest. -
Rear floor modification required
The rear floor pan section must be removed for clearance.
This is the cleanest way to run a solid axle in an S550 or S650 Mustang while keeping geometry proven, class-legal, and easy to service. No better option for drag racing!
